Hoodia Gordonii has become a very popular product for weight loss and it is actually one of the few weight loss products that actually works.  But what about Hoodia side effects?

The good news is that there have been no record of any negative side effects from using Hoodia.  Hoodia is a completely natural products that has been used by the Bushmen of South Africa for thousands of years and without any bad side effects.

Since being introduced to the rest of the world there have been trials carried out and testing done on Hoodia and these have also been very successful and without side effects.

Hoodia is an appetite suppressant that works by sending a message to the brain telling it that the stomach is full, so in a way it tricks the brain into thinking you are full.  Because the brain thinks that the stomach is full it doesn’t send out hunger signals.  So when taking Hoodia you don’t feel hungry and as a result you eat less.

Phytopharm’s Dr Richard Dixey explained how Hoodia actually works:

“There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar.
“When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells start firing and now you are full.
“What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose.
“It goes to the mid-brain and actually makes those nerve cells fire as if you were full. But you have not eaten. Nor do you want to.”

There is such a big percentage of the population that are overweight and even obese that there is a lot of focus on weight loss and weight loss products.  There are many other products that don’t work or that do have bad side effects and even some that have had to be taken off the market due to serious side effects.

That is why Hoodia has been one of the most popular products, because it has no nasty side effects and is still very effective.  Of course taking Hoodia doesn’t mean you should stop eating completely or this can lead to serious problems, so you do need to use Hoodia combined with a good, healthy diet.
